I wanted to start this blog so I could look back on my journey as a Beachbody coach and to share this path I chose to take in my life....I already can't wait to see how it pans out, but first let's stop and go back a bit.
I am a 33 year old mother to 4 children and I have been married to my husband Dan for almost 13 years. We have an incredibly handsome stepson Cody who is 19, a super smart athletic son Dylan who just turned 11 and then of course the twins who are 9, there's Kyle who is absolutely hilarious and never misses a beat and Kayla, our beautiful baby girl!! In 2005 we moved as a family from Calgary, AB to Invermere, BC where we were lucky enough to become self employed and several opportunities came our way leading us towards the restaurant industry.
I personally had never had a problem with weight, I actually use to brag about eating a large pizza or a 18oz steak with all the trimmings but I was also working 10 hours a day and had 3 little ones to chase at the same time. It wasn't until February 2012...that's everything changed and I blame some of it on the dirty 30's. There were some uncontrollable changes with our business where we couldn't operate the sit down portion of our restaurant/takeout business which meant my days went from 10-12 hours/day of pure craziness to a 4-6 hour shift. Along with that, on February 28th I put out my last cigarette!!
If you have ever smoked, you know that cigarettes could pass as a great breakfast as well as fight off any other hunger cravings....it worked as a great weight loss supplement and I didn't even realize it. So now I found myself bored, hungry and going crazy!! So I ate. Conveniently the takeout side of our restaurant which we still operate is a Pizza Place and it worked out perfect for we always had fresh pizza on the go for customers wanting to buy pizza by the slice. I guess when you're hungry, bored and going crazy you eat pizza.
A couple months went by and I went for a dress fitting for one of my best friends wedding.....The dress seriously would not zip up and my chest was popping out the top!! (Which was a very rare occurance) All I knew at that point was that I had 2 months to loose a couple pounds and be good to go. Little did I know that weight was easier to put on then it was to take off and this is where my fitness journey began.
Since that day when I realized I was a bit on the tubby side I have struggled to take off an awkward 30 pounds and I'm still hard at it. I have read numerous books, filled my mind with all sorts of nutrition and exercise information, joined fitness classes, partook in Zumba and even had some one on one time with a trainer but I couldn't quite make that scale budge until now...2 years later.
So what is the secret for me??
First of all and most of all, it's mental!! Your body will not go where your mind is not ready to take it. Although I felt I was always doing the right things and spent endless nights wondering why I couldn't take off weight, I realize now that I obviously was not ready.....I was not in a mental state of mind to give it all I have. Secondly, I give huge credit to Beachbody!! It was from following fitness motivational posts on Instagram where I ran across a page run by my upline coach, Melissa. She seemed to have it all...she was focused, smokin' hot and SO real & humble!! At that time I had no idea what Beachbody even was but I bought a program, signed up to be a coach and was told to, "Strap that seatbelt right Girl...here we go!!
It has been an incredible ride so far, that for sure...I'd love for you to join me.
